Thanks for the post, adding this for a listen later
One more rare Nathan´s album. Nothing about the album on roon. neither in qobuz or spotify. Don´t know if the album is in Tidal. Got the three albums on CD.
Best.jazz.thread.ever!
Thanks for the recommendations! This one dovetails nicely.
Seems logical to include Woody Shaw at this point. Maybe his first recording, on Muse. Bennie Maupin and Gary Bartz are impressive. I do not think this one can be found on Tidal/Qobuz.
Wow, I’m impressed first hearing this, sounds glorious coming out of my speakers! I must say not only is the material here incredible, but the SQ is also on point!
Blackstone Legacy is available on Tidal and Qobuz!
Gary Bartz, now we’re cooking! One of all time favorite songs is the title song for this fantastic album recorded at the 1973 Montreux Jazz Festival. A must have that is available on Tidal and Qobuz

I will be giving this a listen shortly, really enjoyed his material last night!
On the subject of Woody Shaw, who is one of many jazz trumpet players taken far too young, how about Woody as a sideman with the great Long Tall Dexter. “Fried Bananas” is a classic! Available on Tidal and Qobuz, although the metadata appears to be less complete than for this version, like there is no review, but then I didn’t “add” the Qobuz version to my Roon library. Go figure!?!?

Or perhaps this album which contains the Shaw classic “To Kill A Brick” (track no. 4). Available on Tidal and Qobuz

Sorry for all the posts but this thread is about jazz.
And now for something completely different: The Jazz Saxophone Book
Ok. Let´s keep this moving. Taking the Larry´s hand. Organ to organ, another great piece. No info on qobuz, neither spotify, don´t know Tidal. Pictures taken from my cd album.
Don’t be sorry about posting, that’s what this thread is for! The more everyone posts the more we can learn and explore together, so I say post away
Here is a new submission for me, great sounds from this set, my ears were very happy
And Leon Thomas’ lesser known contemporary Joe Lee Wilson, who in addition to singing ran one of the loft jazz hot spots the Ladies’ Fort in NoHo (north of Houston Street), lower Manhattan back in the mid to late 1970s. And yes, as a college student I was part of the loft jazz scene and visited the Ladies’ Fort many times. Available on Tidal and Qobuz

Luckily there is a great audio document of the loft jazz scene and it’s available on Tidal and Qobuz

Live fast, die young, leave a beautiful corpse.
I’m going back to Woody Shaw after Ralph’s excellent suggestions. Listening to Homecoming as I write this (I saw this band together!). Moontrane was my starting point on the jazz journey with Woody. I don’t see this one on Tidal or Qobuz, hopefully others have better search skills. Find any Woody Shaw recording now, he is one the most underrated trumpet players of the late 20th C. Maybe history going forward will be more kind to him, sooner than later.
