next nice find in my collection
That is why I have been living abroad for the last 25 years (CH + DE) - I canât play any instrument and have no crime writer skills

Fear not! The music isnât quite as scary as the artwork. Decidedly modern though, Hoffman is a cellist who has recently been with Henry Threadgill.
Just bought it from Bandcamp, loving the opening track. But bringing in a different conversation: Iâve not been successful in getting ID3 metadata and Roonâs own metadata processing to do what seems right for so many jazz albums like this one, where thereâs a band leader (Tomas Fujiwara in this case) and several band members. Your choices mean that the band leader is not put first or highlighted, while my choices (ALBUMARTIST=band leader, ARTIST=x\y\z) means that the band leader is included, but not the band members. Neither is right.
It gets worse: I often set the file tags as follows:
Albumartist: The John Doe Quartet
Artist: John Doe; Fred Doe; Lou Doe; Tom Doe
Only to have Roon âidentifyâ the album and then Roon provides garbage metadata that overrides the information in my file tags and I end up with the only credits being âThe John Doe Quartetâ. Yes I know that there is work around to fix this but itâs way too time consuming and complicated, and that takes all the joy out of using Roon.
Yeah, the whole metadata issue is one big mess and only getting worse with each passing week. Team Roon is well aware of the issue and are working on a solution, but please donât hold your breath. A possible fix might be to allow one to access the Internet from inside Roon but that appears to be a non-starter as far as Team Roon concerned.
On a related note, I often have simple text files, named âinfo.txtâ, with useful information, like the musicians and recording dates and locations, in the same directory as the music files but Roonâs new âFoldersâ feature doesnât even show these *.txt files. Again I know that there is work around this by converting all these info.txt files to PDF files (which Roon can then read) but, as is case with the ignored file tags outlined above, the fix is too time consuming and overly complicated.
I pay for Roon to provide the metadata so that I can spend my time doing other things, like riding my bicycle, instead of curating my music library.
@Fernando_Pereira Thanks for the recommendation. Listened to the album and it is superb. Sanchez reminds of Marilyn Crispell in her younger days. Crispell has become more lyrical with age, which in her case turned out very enjoyable.
Interesting - Iâll give it a listen. Thanks for the recommendation
