Nucleus+ shutdown server when not in use

Press the power button briefly, it will start the shutdown process, and cleanly power off after a few seconds. Or open the web admin page (ip address in a browser, or nucleus.local) and choose shutdown from the top right (red) power menu. Pressing and holding the power button bypasses the shutdown process, and kills power - which is not recommended.

I am running a Roon Nucleus with a Small Green Computer linear power supply. It is difficult to reach the back of the Nucleus to power it off. Is it safe to just turn off the external power supply to power down the Nucleus?

No, thatā€™s not powering down, thatā€™s just removing the power. If it was doing something important, like updating the database, there is a chance it gets into an inconsistent state. You are not supposed to pull the plug from any other computer either, thatā€™s why they have shutdown menus.

@mikeb had just explained it in the post before yours. If you canā€™t get to the button, shut it down from the web admin page

Thanks for the response!

Thanks, this is helpful!
Some of the Nucleus users are of older age ā€¦ they were listening music before the computer networks emerged!
I proceeded and it went well!
Thanks
