Nucleus + vs Mac Mini core

I have a large library of about 700,000 tracks and sometimes it takes me hours to re-boot and for my nucleus + with 16 GB RAM to reconnect

I’ve always assumed this was because of the size of my library but I was recently talking to someone who has a library of twice the size who has no such difficulty using a new Mac Mini with the M2 chip and 24 GB of RAM as his core

Would appreciate any advice on whether switching to the Mac Mini at some point would be helpful

Where is your music located? Where is his music?

I don’t think the difference between the M2 and the N+ is going to make such a difference.

Also, is your database freshly imported or old? have you “cleaned up” recently? settings->library->clean up library

My music on QNAP; his on Synology; my qnap reboots quickly. I back up my data base every month or so and it was recently updated via a version update [took a long time to re-connect] have not cleaned up library at all – would this help? How long would it take? Would it cause me to have to re-boot and reconnect the nucleus? Have there been any issues with this process?

all ethernet everywhere Roon is involved?

no. I’m on ethernet on one Mac, on wifi on another [and on an ipad occasionally]

How about the Roon Core and the NAS? The remotes don’t matter. They load data lazily.

Roon Core on Nucleus > ethernet, as is NAS

Ran clean up library in settings yesterday at your suggestion for the first time: 5780 files!
