Are there video concerts or is it only audio?

Just audio through Roon, ā€œ* Video material avialable through the Nugs appā€

Just struck me, is there any geofencing involved here? It would surprise me if there wasn’t?

Will i get the same library here in Sweden as someone in Australia or somewhere else on this globe?

Thanks!

So what’s the point of nugs with Roon, then? Trying to understand the benefits of this but I can’t find any info. Did anyone happy or not about this could share their feedback? They are already asking a credit card for a trial, I tried with a virtual card but the button doesn’t work to activate the trial.

Listening to live concerts

Just no video playback of the ones with……video

I see…So concert without video, seems a bit half-baked.

Well, if that satisfies some of the users base, great. Not sure this is what the majority was looking for in terms of new feature or additional service but why not.

I’m all for new features, updates a bug fixes.

When someone asks the community if Roon can do ā€˜this’ or ā€˜that’ they are quick directed to Feedback > Feature Suggestions

Fine :+1:

For another streaming service to be added to Roon, the streaming service needs to onboard with the idea.

Totally agree with comments that Bandcamp would be a great addition.

Some users may tire of getting new features that only 18 people voted for in Feedback > Feature Suggestions

Obvious choice is to not subscribe to nugs. I also think the cost element for half the service (no video playback) in Roon warrants a price tier fit for purpose.

Everyone has a choice @Jim_F , like you with 3 or 4 life subs and also a sub to Audrivana. Good for you :+1::innocent:

For others they just want Roon to focus on stability and user experience rather than new features.

Peace be with you all :innocent:

That’s why I said listen. It’s not as if Made in Japan and a million live albums came with video. How did we survive?

I have three lifetime subscriptions to Roon, a subscription to Audirvana Studio, and a lifetime subscription to Audirvana 3.5. I also subscribe to Tidal, Qobuz, and Apple Music Family . What has that got to do with my post about people always complaining when Roon introduces a feature that is not the one they want? Also, don’t assume you know what I paid for any of my subs.

People’s choice

Like you complaining on another forum about a beta version that’s got bugs with a new feature.

I don’t assume because you have told people many times in the past how many Roon subs you have and what you sub to.

I think the point I’m trying to make is being lost here. The point I’m trying to make is with the subscription to nugs in Roon you only get half of the service of nugs but for the full price.

I think some users of nugs who know that there are a good number (not millions) of concert videos and in reflection to the Roon blog announcing this which only has the word listen (listening) written once may suggest to some there is a video element to this integration.

When I read this I would expect video of a concert.

I personally don’t transcend to another level when I listen to live recordings. I actually do not like listening to live recordings much, but I do like watching music concert performances because you can connect more with the performance.

These are just my opinions after all. Everyone’s opinion may differ

Do I? The subscription through Roon doesn’t work on the Nugs website? That would suck but I don’t know.

Edit: It says, ā€žYour nugs trial also unlocks exclusive HD and 4K concert livestreams and on-demand video in the nugs app.ā€œ

Just joined the trial and tested, SQ is good! Thank you Roon for the discovery :folded_hands:

I agree on the ā€œdoes Roon need Nugsā€ issue. Only 18 votes on the Feature Suggestion thread. The question I’d be asking is why are we seeing another new feature when there are so many long standing problems that need to be dealt with? Particularly when introducing a new feature seems to inevitability lead to more regressions.

Also, as we’ve seen elsewhere on the forum, new features are introduced and not supported (hello OPRA, I’m looking at you). On the ā€œIs OPRA deadā€ thread we were even given assurances that everything’s been sorted, when it hasn’t been.

I’m all for topping up the bath tub with some lovely hot water and a squirt of luxury bubble bath. But if you don’t mend the leaky plug then it’ll soon lead to dissappointment.

For whatever reason Safari would only show me the top of that blog until I change to chrome.

So yes, using the nugs app on supported devices will give you the video content with no real easy way to get the audio into Roon.

Also worth mentioning is their catalogue includes a large amount of MQA. Surprised nothing in the blog.

This could re-ignite the Roon MQA wars

Wanted to check it out so I signed up for the 60-day free trial. Whenever I do this with any platform I immediately cancel as it’s better to take care of that right away then have to remember to go back in and cancel if I decide to not keep it and get hit with an unwanted charge. My free trail is good for 60 days until May, 4th, however, I can no longer access Nugs via Roon and can only use it with the native Nugs platform. Well, so much for seeing if I like it enough top keep it.
