I’d really like to see Roon develop its own dedicated physical remote/controller.
I love using Roon, but with a proper hi-fi system I don’t always want to reach for my phone or iPad just to change the volume, pause a track or skip forward.
Something along the lines of RoonPilot shows how good the idea could be, but I’d love to see what Roon could do with an official premium version.
I’d imagine a compact controller with:
-
A high-quality weighted rotary volume dial
-
Colour display showing album artwork and track information
-
Play/pause and previous/next controls
-
Quick Roon Zone selection
-
Queue and basic browsing controls
-
Wi-Fi connection directly to Roon Server
-
Rechargeable battery and a charging dock
-
A premium aluminium body that looks at home alongside high-end hi-fi equipment
Roon has Nucleus hardware at the heart of the system, so I think an official Roon Remote sitting beside the listening chair would be a brilliant addition.
Phones and tablets are great for browsing your library, but sometimes you just want to listen to music without having your phone in your hand.
I’d definitely buy one!
