Description of the issue

Does not display artwork for all .ogg, if the same file is .m4a / (aac) no problem. Do Not have problems with mp3 files either.
Have included screenshot from mp3tag showing image in file

included roon album editor showing roon does not see image

Additionally:
album art file is .jpg file from Discogs, using “save image as” …
then added to .ogg file with Mp3tag, this process is not a problem with hundreds of my .m4a .mp3 files

the pixel size (300x300) of album art does matter, problem occurs with all pixel sizes of .jpgs
same problem whether album art file is .jpg or .png file

**ALL music players (including MAC: IINA, Pine Player, PC: MusicBee, MediaMonkey ) display album art without issue in .ogg files.

If a .flac ripped via dBpowerAmp is converted with dBpowerAmp to .ogg , Album art is still NOT viewable
whereas conversions to other file formats (.m4a or .mp3) album art is viewable

Issue occurs on both Mac & PC

the pixel size (300x300) of album art does NOT matter (Typo in above)

Your image from the Album editor shows no image. Therefore, check file permissions and name, e.g., cover.jpg.

Also, make sure Mp3tag is using Vorbis (FLAC / Ogg) tags not not ID3.

Thank you for the suggestion, I changed how mp3tag writes the tags, and tried different settings in mp3tag, still no display of the embedded image in the .ogg file in Roon.
There is no cover.jpg file, the file is a 48 minute rip of the album, but problem occurs with tracks as well in the absence of a cover.jpg file. (creating a separate directory for each album, exporting the embedded .jpg to this directory is a workaround but time consuming, so is attaching a image manually to the album)
The embedded image in .ogg file is not displaying in roon, it does display in other players listed above.
The embedded image in .m4a .mp3 files of the SAME album/track display without issue in Roon, this is an issue just with .ogg files …

What version of Mp3tag do you use? OGG image support was added in 2.x (3.x is current.)

Also, if you navigate to the files using Roon’s folder browser or skipped files, do you see “Tag extraction failed”?

With my testing, GNOME desktop and players see the cover image, but Roon doesn’t recognize a FLAC file converted to OGG, and for another untagged OGG test, the file is recognized, but the image isn’t displayed.

So, it seems that Roon doesn’t support the METADATA_BLOCK_PICTURE field.

Thank you for your help !
Using v3.29 latest of Mp3tag
Do not get “Tag extraction failed” in Roon Browser see below
I Agree Roon does not support viewing images in .ogg so …

.ogg files are supported, this Should work …
Suggestions how to proceed ?

Given @mjw’s findings, I might recommend simply converting to FLAC.

FWIW here’s a larger cover if you wish

Not clear from above, Roon will recognize either Cover.jpg or Folder.jpg

Your album folder should contain one of these files (I always use folder.jpg), then Roon will import it. Roon will import any jpg or pdf files in an album folder (and subfolders eg. a folder Scans or Artwork) and show as a collection of image

eg 2 images and 2 pdf files like a CD Booklet etc

image

AFAIK, Roon recognizes cover|Cover|folder|Folder.jpg|jpeg|PNG. It will also display multiple covers, e.g., cover(1).jpeg.

However, the OP is using embedded images, and in that process, a cover image wasn’t added to the folder.

I think the OGG image tag changed a while ago, and wonder if Roon is looking for the old method.

@Andre747, this needs a post in Feature Suggestions.

I use Tag&Renameto extract the image from embedded file tags, by default it names it folder.jpeg

Hence I rarely miss a folder
