When I learned that the Intel NUC was going to be discontinued some time back, I went on eBay and bought a couple for $37.00 each just to have spares. Sure enough, today, my little trusty i3 died today after many years of serving as our Roon core. All I had to do was swap out hard drives, hook everything up, and we were back in business. This time the best laid plans worked out!

Yes I did. I wanted barebones but this one was cheaper, even with a 128 GHz SSD and 4 GHz RAM. I just swapped out the SSD and added RAM from the dead soldier and I was ready to go.
I haven’t seen any that cheap since but I did find a dual core i5 with SSD and RAM for $50 which is another spare tire.
