Playing from a NAS is fine … and there’s no need to move the NUC near the Metrum Ambre since it is using a network connection.

It still takes about 10 seconds (see figure)
Yes playing from Nas is fine, I just wanted it at a place where I eysy can put the Nuc on or off and let the Nas offline now and then
Preferably keep the NAS and NUC close together, but away from your listening room.
I will follow your advice and leave both the Nas and Nuc ‘on’ all the time
