Please update logo for Radio X

Hi, I just discovered Radio X here in the UK on my car’s DAB+ radio. So I’m adding it to ‘MyLive Radio’ in roon. Radio X is now a single national digital radio station, but still available on local FM radio in Manchester and London. But the logo in ‘Live Radio’ still refers to “Radio X Manchester” and the Manchester FM frequency. Here is the Radio X website with all the details How to listen to Radio X - Radio X

To avoid confusing people like me, can you remove the Manchester references? Thanks

There are actually eight different Radio X stations/streams Chilled, Classic Rock, 00s, 90s, Manchester, London, UK, and Switzerland (not the same site as the first seven). They all play different streams. So having a descriptor to differentiate them all is a good thing… so, unless @BrianW has a different opinion, I think we should leave them the way they are?

Edit: sounds like London and UK may be the same stream?

Sorry, being pedantic there is only one station called “Radio X”. The same organisation does offer some different channels called “Radio X Classic Rock”, “Radio X Chilled”, “Radio X 90s” and “Radio X 00s”. These are all the stations listed on the Radio X page Radio X | How to listen, Shows, DJs, Schedule and Playlist . They are all different ‘Radio Stations’ broadcasting separate music streams and so need different entries and logos in ‘Live Radio’.

Please note that “Radio X Manchester” or “Radio X London” do not appear in the list. As far as I can see these are local FM radio transmitters broadcasting the national Radio X programme. I cannot check as I am well outside the reception area for either of the FM transmitters. (104.9Mhz get me Radio Leicester, 97.7Mhz is just noise)

I’ve just checked again in Roon ‘Live Radio’. I set the ‘Local nations radius’ to 500 mile radius, which seems to be the largest setting. I clicked on ‘Local stations’, clicked on ‘MORE’ and filtered for Radio X. Roon returns “No stations match “Radio X””.

I changed the filter to “Radio “. Roon now shows me a list of 50 radio stations with “radio” in their station name from the UK and Western Europe. None of them contain “Radio X” in their station name.

I now find that Roon nows offers “Radio X Manchester” under the ‘Recently played’ catagory.

My conclusion is that Troon only knows about 1 Radio X group station, which Roon calls '“Radio X Manchester”. But it is actually picking up “Radio X”, the nationally broadcast digital channel.

So now I am changing my request to: Please change the “Radio X Manchester “ title to “Radio X” and also add entries for “Radio X Classic Rock”, “Radio X Chilled”, “Radio X 90s” and “Radio X 00s”

Thanks

When I look in the data base I see all eight entries I mentioned for Radio X ‘‘stations”, that’s is what we call them in the data base. They each have two streams and are published to Roon Live Radio.

All the ones I listed are already in Roon. Why they are not showing up in your search is another issue?

This is what I see when I search for “radio x” (all eith stations are there, need to hit “more” to see them):

Edit: Now it appears that the London, Manchester, and UK stations are playing the same stream.

So I “could” unpublish the Manchester and London stream and leave just the UK stream (and rename it just “Radio X”)? They all sound the same quality to me.

looks like you are making some changes. I can now see the stations, including Radio X Manchester and Radio X London. However clicking on either of these gives me the message “Station unavailable. Station no longer exists”.

I’ll go back to listening to Planet Rock and see if all this has settled down tomorrow.

If you click on “more” the Radio X (formerly Radio X UK) should still be there and working (it was the playing the same stream content as the Manchester and London streams).

It may take a bit for the database to remove the ones i unpublished… these “usually” update quickly, must be some delay right now???

Ok, I waited a couple of hours and now searching for radio X brings up; Radio X, Radio X: 90s, Radio X: Chilled, Radio X: 00s. Radio X: Classic Rock.

So that is all sorted out now

Thank you.

Hmm. Are people sure that Radio X UK Manchester and London are always different? Their streams have different icy-names:

< icy-name:Radio X UK

http://media-ice.musicradio.com/RadioXManchesterMP3
< icy-name:Radio X Manchester

http://media-ice.musicradio.com/RadioXLondonMP3
< icy-name:Radio X London

Do they have different local news perhaps?

You might be right. They all had the same songs and DJ the last yime I listened to them. But I did not listen to news section. They do pont yo different stream urls. Maybe manchester and london need to come back?

If you put them back I’ll try to compare them in real time

Radio X Manchester has been broadcasting exactly the same music as Radio X UK but they just played different adverts. So not exactly the same.

Radio X London is also playing the same music but different adverts to Radio X UK. But the news is the same.

Radio X London and Radio X Manchester play different adverts to each other.

Conclusion: Radio X UK, Radio X London and Radio X Manchester should be identified as 3 separate radio stations. the music content seems to be that same but the adverts are different. Presumably they are regionally targeted.

Thank you. We’ll keep the stations separate.
