Plexamp and Display use

I’m doing some comparision between Roon and Plexamp and I am astonished how good Plex(amp) has become for a music collector. Thanks to Harry for including it to RoPieee.

Long story short:

It is possible to use the display for cover art and playback control with Plexamp and if so how to configure it?

Not at the moment, only Roon supports the display.

I would love to see that feature within ropieee. For now i have had to make my own version of the Headless Plexamp with album art.

As plexamp is created by Plex as a headless solution. I think it is not straight forward to just add the display
However I wish, the control via IR can be added.
As I sideloaded Plexamp in my eversolo( android streamer) their IR remote control or remote app support the pause/next track/back. I think the control is there. Just need to find a way to control it

headless Plexamp already has a browser interface (hostname:32500)

true, currently it’s not an option in RoPieee to show this interface on the Pi display, but it’s already available wherever you have a web browser

you can control any local Plexamp player from the browser (not just the headless Pi itself)

some examples shown in image below … here i’m temporarily using a touchscreen chromebook, with the Plexamp interface full-screened and zoomed to make things more easily visible from whatever distance

I also need metadata to be able to do that, and afaik Plexamp does not have any kind of interface to expose this…

It’s not available through the API? (Although realistically I think the API talks to the Plex server rather than directly to each endpoint)

There are a docker of showing plexamp display
Don’t know how it works
