They are a fantastic bit of engineering . I bought them on release and they have come down in price since then. They have been worth every penny though. They are also fairly practical as the dsp gives effective room adjustment. I might add they look gorgeous,in any colour, and I think aesthetic is important when you part with hard earned money. Some look down upon streaming speakers but they are wrong to do so properly engineered they can sound superb,I think that actually worries some.
KEF LS50 wireless II in the kitchen, with a bit of Roon Muse DSP they have enough bass and otherwise just sound great.
@Adrian_Folland & @xoph, I have a pair of the KEF LS50 Wireless IIs in my bedroom and canāt believe how amazing they sound in there. I had retired them from a larger space and put them in my bedroom on a whim toward the end of last year. They sound absolutely wonderful with music and paired with my LG TV.
I donāt have wireless speakers right now, so I canāt vote ⦠but you guys make me want to get a pair of KEF for my office.
I have only 1 wireless speaker thatās Roon Ready, a BlueSound Pulse. All my other systems are wired component systems. My main 2 channel system has a Rose RS 130 that I use with Roon RAAT.
I really wanted to buy KEF speakers. I really did. But after listening to them for the third time, the bass was clearly lacking (I donāt want an additional subwoofer) and I really miss clearness in sound. Long story short, I did something strange. After a long shoot out I ended up with ADAM Audio T5V active studio monitors and a DAC on a Raspberry (Raspberry Pi ES9038Q2m DAC audio decoder board HIFI coaxial fiber I2S analog 3B + 4B 768K 32Bit DSD512) driven by Ropieee software. Soundwise, far far away (better) from KEF.
Iām completely happy with the setup for my desktop table. Should be also fits perfect for small rooms.
Adam Audi from Amazon + HAT DAC from Aliexpress
Also I compare the T5V (45 hz => 25kHz) to the bigger T7V (39Hz => 25Khz).
For what reason ever. The T7V sound comperable to price and size only a 100th part of an milimeter / inches better, so I go for the T5V.
My living room setup is with RS 151. I love it.
I donāt use speakers all over the house for background music. However, I recently purchased an Elac Z3 for our new sunroom. It sounds very good. I use Roon over WIFI to the Elac.
Recently purchased a set of Formation Duo. Very happy. Made my whole set up more simple (got rid of streamer, dac, active speakers, network switch). Saving lot of cables. And great sound.
We have Kef LS50 wireless II in the living room. Kef Lsx II in my office, Naim Muso QB in the kitchen and an old sonos Move in my wifeās office.
We had a bang and olufsen beosound A5 in the kitchen before the muso QB but it was terrible in terms of software, it would choose wifi access points with the weakest signals instead of the nearest, strongest one, it worked terribly with roon and meant setting up airplay or chromecast, neither of which was stable with it and took up many hours of time trying to make it work. eventujally it made a loud popping sound and went for repair, couldnāt be fixed and I was refunded. used the money to buy the naim QB which is excellent. The B&O sound was good though and the portability that came with the battery power really useful, if you could get it to connect.
The sonos move is similar in connectivity issues and not roon ready so wouldnāt buy anothjer sonos.
Would really like a good portable speaker which connected to wifi and was roon ready, not just a bluetooth one.
Cannot be arsed with hifi seperates, will stay with network connected integrated speakers for ever.
You read my mind, negotiations with the boss still flounder
JBL Authentics 300, a speaker that looks as good as it sounds, connected by ethernet or wi-fi when using itās battery on the terrace or bluetooth in the campervan.
Normally I use my Cambridge EXN100 as a Roon Ready Endpoint, with fantastic results! But what has unexpectedly impressed me is the USB connection between my Nucleus One and my DAC/Preamp SPL Director mk2. Here the sound is completely - in all parameters - like on the Roon Ready connection. Most surprising!
You should get some audio sunglasses/reading glasses. Thatās what I use.
I canāt say itās a āfavouriteā because it is the only one that I have ever used. However, I have just caved and purchased a JBL Charge 5 WiFi.
Early days yet so I canāt give an impression for sound but it is certainly a neat little device that can fill many purposes.
KEF LS60 for the bedroom. I had been wanting high quality set up for the bedroom, but did not quite have the space for a full scale rig with amplifier and wiring etc. The KEF LS60 fitted the bill perfectly for the space and decent sound quality. I bought them as soon as they were released, although I did have to wait a few weeks because I chose the blue over the grey.
Want to thank those that recommended the JBL Charge 5 Wi-Fi. I bought two and paired them for stereo. Wouldnāt call them reference quality, but it is a great sound and they have tremendous punch and separation when used outside.
As Roon-Ready, setup was easy and quick.
They also play all day long, and I keep looking for fun places to use them.
Many thanks to the community for opening up a new audio experience for me.
Count me in as well for the LS50 Wireless II. Iāve had a pair of LS50 passives for many years and love them. Just recently bought a pair of the Wireless IIās for another room and they are excellent.
I have one of these on top of the refrigerator in my kitchen, and lately I have used it more than my main system. Nice sound right out of the box and fairly impressive with a bit of EQ sweetening.
iām in the market for something similar, but this doesnāt appear to be roon ready.
