Is there a way to get roon to display tags in addition to the colun=mns already supported by roon? my local library is tagged with BPM, Initial Key, Mood and Grouping. Has anyone found a way to view these metadata tags within roon? thanks!
ROONALBUMTAG and ROONTRACKTAG but it will show as Roon tags, not columns
I think he is talking about tags embedded in the files rather than Roon Tags
- Goto album
- Select track and click the 3 dot at the end of the name
- Select View File Info
4.Click File Tags
You can’t edit
There are many Tag Editors around , try TagScanner or MP3Tag both have free options
I know, ROONALBUMTAG and ROONTRACKTAG are file tags, but they are explained on the linked “Tags” help page. But file tags will eventually be displayed just like Roon tags, is what I am saying. I.e., not in columns as in the OP („the colun=mns already supported“).
And to add additional tags that Roon displays, such as BPM, Initial Key, Mood, or Grouping (?), you’d have to use ROONALBUMTAG/ROONTRACKTAG, no?
No if the Tag in the file is populated it will appear in the list i showed (I think)
I used SongKong on some albums and all the MusicBrainz tags show up
I am not sure if the tags are limiting in any way or its simply a TagDump sort of thing
I dont use it very often
I suppose it would be best if the OP described what they mean in more detail, rather than us guessing.
However, as far as I can tell and, respectively, what I understand (and I may well be very wrong):
But you can’t have it as a column in My Tracks, for instance, which is what I thought the OP is after, as he mentioned “the colun=mns already supported by roon” and tags like BPM or Key only apply to tracks.
And, as the help says:
Thank you both for you replies. Yeah - I use Yate for tagging (love that program) and was hoping to be able to view the BPM / Key in Roon’s track column view. I guess I’ll submit it as a Feature Request. Roon is close to perfect in my opinion. Adding this little tiny (easy to add) feature will push it right to the top of Perfection Mountain!
Thanks again and happy listening!
