Hello,
Coming from this use case which would require several zones, is there a practical limit for grouped zones?
Would DSP computations like upsampling for the song played for the group be shared for the group or performed independetly for each grouped zone?

Well, with a Roon i7 Nuc Rock, I tested 4 groups without fuss. How many were you thinking of?

@support tagging support here for you…
I’ve run 4/5 grouped RAAT zones no issues but don’t recall if I was doing upsampling or other dsp functions at the time. While I am pretty sure any dsp is per zone, support might be the best ones answer the issue you asked about if some or any get shared over the group.

Updating that Brian gave a detailed answer here -
No
The upsampling will only happen once, the other stuff (probably lighter weight) may be repeated per zone.
You haven’t provided enough information to answer this question. It will depend on which i7 you have, how much processing you’re doing, how many distinct streams are playing, etc, and it quickly gets too difficult to call precisely. There’s a decent chance that your networking infrastructure will fail before Roon fails, especially if there is WiFi involved.
