Problem Roon Arc with Netgear M6

I can’t get out of this problem.
My setup:
Netgear M6
Fritz 4060 box
Switches

@Giampietro_Piacentin, welcome to the Community. The diagnostics you’ve provided suggest that UPnP is not properly configured on your router.

Please first try the following steps:

  • Try to enable UPnP/NATPMP in the web administration interface for the router directly upstream from your RoonServer
  • Try to manually open the port in your router’s port forwarding configuration
  • Make sure the IP/Port matches the Port listed in Roon → Settings → ARC
  • Check for any VPNs or Firewalls that might be interfering
  • Check if your modem is in Bridge mode

If you continue to experience difficulties, please tag the support team and include the following information:

  1. What is the make and model of your modem and router? Is this the FRITZBox 4060 or the Netgear M6?
  2. Do you have any additional network hardware, like additional routers or managed switches? How are the 4060 and M6 used?
  3. Who is your internet service provider and what is your geographic region?
  4. Is your Modem configured in Bridge Mode so that it operates only as a modem or do you have the ports forwarded on both?

Good morning, and thanks for the quick response.
Above all, as a modem I have the Netgear M6 which unfortunately does not have the possibility of Bridge. Then in cascade as a route I have the Fritbox 4060 which distributes via a switch to the repeaters for the mesh.
I tried to open the door first to 4060 and then only to M6, but it always gives me an error. Always gives me double Nat. My provider is Wind 3 Italy in 5G with denat sim.
I’m waiting. Thank you and good day!

Hi @Giampietro_Piacentin,

The M6 hotstop will impose network address translation (NAT) so long as it’s an active router in the chain. These hotstop routers aren’t designed to Bridge, but some users have configured a “bridge” by disabling WiFi and reconfiguring DHCP in the downstream router. There’s a Netgear forum page here.

Doing a little reading about Wind 3, your provider is likely also imposing carrier-grade NAT upstream of this M6. I can’t confirm this independently, but it might be worth reaching out to them about potential solutions and whether a dedicated IP address is available. They may also have IPv6 functionality through dual-stack - if so, Roon ARC can be configured via IPv6 in some setups.

We’ll keep this thread open for other users to comment in the meantime.

Hi @Giampietro_Piacentin,

Were the above instructions helpful? This thread will auto-close after a certain duration without response so we want to verify if you still need assistance.
