Problems using Chromecast Speaker Groups

I have multiple endpoints in my home - all have Chromecast buit-in and only some are Roon ready. As a result, playing music to speaker groups effectively requires the use of setting up Chromecast speaker groups through Google Home and then enabling those groups in Roon. This all worked very well when I started using Roon in early 2023. Recently, the reliability of the Chromecast speaker groups has degraded significantly, whether with Roon as the effective source or with other applications that cast directly to the groups. There is a long thread about this as a Google issue at Answered: Having trouble with Speaker groups? Read this firs… - Google Nest Community. Note that I don’t fully understand why the topic is being managed in the “Google Nest Community”, given that the issues impacting Google devices are clearly also impacting other OEM devices with Chromecast built in.
All evidence I see points to the root cause being Google’s Chromecast ecosystem. I’m bringing the topic to the Roon community because Roon seems to reveal more info about what is going than what is visible through Google home (and the end-user applications that cast directly to Google home endpoints): my post in that forum.
I’m curious to know if anyone here has had similar issues, and particularly interested to know if anyone has found ways to manage or mitigate them.

thanks

I can only speak from personal experience, but I always had mixed results when it came to Chromecast functionality, even without the use of Roon. Sometimes the handoff would only last for one song, then quit. It also seemed like I had to regularly reset my router and endpoint device more often than someone should have to because the app wouldn’t want to hand off at all, even while seeing the device.

I don’t both grouping with Chromecast anymore as a multi room solution. Chromecast went off tracks due to the Sonos lawsuit, which in the end Google didn’t have to pay the millions, but hasn’t seemed to recover, imho.
