I back up my library from one qnap to another qnap and recently loaded the backup qnap into roon for the first time in several years and found that it was adding and identifying music and in the end discovered that I have about 800 more albums now–which leads to my question. Are Roon backups incremental or do they start afresh each time? If they are incremental, could the 800 additional albums be ones that I’d deleted over time.
Most likely, the backup copy of your library contains more media files, and Roon has rescanned them. The Roon backup includes database, settings, play history, etc., but not the media files.
Nonetheless, to answer the question, Roon backups are incremental. However, deleting releases does not remove the album from the database. If the media is made available to Roon, it will reappear with the original import date, play history etc. Things only reset when Clean up library is used.
Yes, I think it said it was importing about 8500 more tracks of music and identifying them. My db backups are not on either of the two QNAPs
