Hello
I’m encountering a peculiar issue with my QNAP TS-1263XU-RP following a core switch restart for maintenance. The QNAP has lost its connection to Active Directory (AD).
I’ve attempted to manually re-add AD to the QNAP without success. Even after restarting both the QNAP and AD, the QNAP can see the AD, and shared folders appear on the device and network. However, users are unable to access their folders due to lost domain security permissions.
My primary question is: How can I restore the domain permissions for my shared folders?
I’ve also discovered a folder named “.@backup_config” containing a backup of QNAP device configurations in a “.bak” compressed file with an encrypted “.gz” file. I had hoped to use this to quickly restore everything, but the file is password-protected. I’ve tried various passwords, including:
- Admin password
- MAC addresses (with and without colons)
- Cloud keys
- Device serial number
- User passwords and names
Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to crack the password.
If anyone has experience with this issue or knows how to decrypt the “.gz” file, please share your insights.
Thank you for your help!
Best regards,
Ahmed Fawzi
