Question on Using HQP with Rpi

I need help with my HQP/Rpi set up. My set up is as follows:

  • Windows PC running Roon and HQP (desktop)
  • Raspberry Pi (Ropieee with HQP NAA enabled)
  • T+A Dac 8 DSD (connected to RPi via USB; ALSA)
  • Ethernet (wired) connection

Using Roon, I can play to the DAC 8 DSD (ALSA). I can also listen to HQP (via NAA).

Issue: After I listen to HQP/NAA, if I then try to switch to the DAC 8 DSD (ALSA), Roon stops recognizing the DAC 8 DSD. I can keep listening to HQP/NAA but will not allow me to switch. So far, the only solution that works is turning the RPi off and restarting it.

It is as if HQP locks into the RPi and does not release it.

Any ideas on how to avoid having to restart the RPi?

Thanks!

Why would you switch? You can play from Roon to HQPlayer.

You cannot have same DAC configured and enabled on both Roon and HQPlayer at the same time. Both take exclusive control of the DAC. This is explained here in the last bullet point:
