Raspberry PI / NAA / I2S / max transfer rate

Hi,

What is the limiting factor regarding the max DAC transfer rate?

My DDDAC has a max transfer rate from 384 kHz when driven by USB.

However driven by I2S the max is 192kHz.

I don’t understand that because also the USB interface is connected to the I2S bus, isn’t it?

Can some one explane? Is there a work aroud?

rgrds, Jan

That’s a question for the manufacturer of your DAC or the I2S HAT board on your Raspberry Pi, depending on which is imposing this limitation.

Which products are you using?

Raspberry Pi 3B, reclocker Q7, RopieeeXL, DDDAC.

Software from HQPlayer and Roon.

There is a DSD512 Pi HAT. So depends on your particular HAT

Discussed in the HQPlayer section of the forum.

Problem found! The 'RAspberry PI DAC (I2S) limits the transfer rate to 192kHz.

Although I have a working solution by using the ‘Audiophonics I-Sabre 90x…’ driver, the question remains wether the SQ is optimal for the DDDAC?

Perhaps Harry (Spockfish) can alter the driver code and optimize it for 384 kHz and up.
