As someone who doesn’t know very much about the hi-fi world, I read reviews. You’ll see some reviews that show how to do system building, but it’s always with new components. You never see anybody looking through US audio Mart and coming up with recommendations about systems that can be put together entirely with used equipment. Seems to me every possible component is out there.
it would be so helpful of somebody in this community would post some suggestions. Something that’s gonna sound dope! Thanks!!
I think there are an almost infinite number of answers to your question. I just started with Roon on a laptop and slowly went from there, one component at a time. Even if someone tries to answer the question, where would you ever find the used system they described? A lot of people say start with the speakers and work backward from there.
EDIT: Roon is only as good as the Roon server device you are using. So, if using Roon, I would start by making sure my Roon server is robust enough to support my planned system and use case. I quickly moved from a laptop to a B-stock Roon Nucleus purchased from Roon.
For 5000 used, you can get an integrated streaming amp of very high quality, something like a Naim Uniti Nova or comparable models from other manufacturers, and a set of good speakers. No need to assemble a „system“ anymore. (For 3000 used you can be very happy a class below, like a Naim Uniti Atom or comparable models). Could even cover new speakers.
