Release 2024.04.2

Hi,

Time for another release!
This time a small-ish one, which tends to clean up the last remains of the whole WiFi/WPA3 fallout.

Here’s the changelog:

  • NEW: add support for Justboom Digi Zero pHAT
  • NEW: add support for HifiBerry DAC+ Zero HAT
  • ENHANCEMENT: improve stability Raspberry Pi 5
  • FIX: WiFi on Pi Zero 2 W is broken

Enjoy!

Is this beta Harry, or straight to Stable?

(At the moment none of my devices on either channel are showing an update but its only been an hour or so)

This is stable, otherwise it would have had a clear ‘BETA’ in the title.

Makes sense, but I think means most of my devices won’t update to it (since they’re on beta channel). :+1:

yeah…

I’ll release it to beta as well.

Am I the only one whoms displays turned black after the update?

give your device a cold reboot (power plug)

  1. After install update all settings in RoPieee are wipe. I should enter again WiFi SSID and password.
  2. The WPA3 problem occurs again :frowning:

That’s strange and should not happen. Same goes for WPA3.
Can you send me feedback?

but I use cell phone router with 2,4 WiFi to send feedback. I can’t connect with Ropieee with 5 GHz.

feedback: a5b1868ff78cd19e

I see strange thinks “my SSID name + UTF-8 SSID” ? Other Neighbors SSID is normal

@spockfish Could You give me a link to ropieeexl_ose_pi4-2024.4.1-stable (*). I Can’t found in my PC. I revert to old one version.
Thank You.

Can you send me feedback?

Hi Jim,

  1. your unit has not been updated
  2. please disable Spotify if you do not use it. It is flushing the logs
  3. you have not configured your screen. It is detected, but not configured. Go the the ‘display’ screen, configure it and it will show up.

Thanks

Hi @Bruno_Winyle ,

Why did you reconfigure your wireless?

From the logs it shows the unit updated and after the update connected to your previous AP (with WPA3).

So I’m curious what you did exactly.

Thanks

Hi Jim,

Curious: do you have more than 1 RoPieee unit?

Could it be that both units have the same hostname? So ‘ropieee’? In that case I would advise to change this.

I would wait with that. Let’s first see what happens in a few hours.

I must do it because lost my Internet conenction when update to 4.2 version today. I haven’t wired connection only have wireless. So I attached to my cell phone router. And send feedback. In 4.2 version I see strange ssid for me… Did You change something in scan mode? I saw my ssid and other descriptions UTF-8 SSID? What’s it?

I try change WPA3 to WPA2 and nothing. Maybe WPA1 works ok. But last version 4.1 works well for RPi4s and WPA3. So maybe consider to make beta version and we will test it before send Stable new one.

Update: Is it any way to make feedback without Internet connection? Sometimes I attached lan wire from my laptop direct to RP4 but I have only private lan without Internet. I make some changes, reboot, etc. But feedback doesn’t work.

@spockfish I’m back to 4.1 stable version. If You send maybe 4.3 verison this will show in my GUI ? Or I should install 4.2 than 4.3 one?

Second think. I’m very proud about new badge with stable and beta version and add after my proposition information to Information page about type of version (Stable/Beta).

Next test I will do when @spockfish makes next, version with working wireless connections.

Regards

I have installed latest on 4 devices. 3 have screens.

One has apparently been successful

One has installed and is sat at ‘ropieee is running’ text information but goes no further

The other is running but the screen is totally black. (although backlight is running)

The forth has no screen and is apparently running ok
