It isn’t a bad thing. At all. Customization should have been there from the beginning. That way the Roon team would show that they are open to any approach in music playback. Most Roon (all?) users are very enthusiastic about the program, but for different reasons.

That is spot-on. Roon users are fanatical (myself included) but we are fanatical about different aspects, as can be seen by the often very lively debates here in the forum.

You’re still young, that’s your fault. 
As I’ve said more than once, it’s not a vote, it’s not social media, it’s the rating given by the reviewer, i.e. at a glance you can get the reviewer overall impressions of the album. It’s a guide that’s all and the rating goes hand-in-hand with the review.
You can use your own ratings. Sorted.
