Hope someone can help with an issue I am having.
Some background:
Before Roon I built up a pretty extensive collection of playlists on Amazon Music Unlimited. I had even subscribed to Amazon Music during the time when you could upload your entire persona library into Amazon Music and use that in addition to their streamed versions. When I moved to Roon I used FreeYourMusic to move my playlists to BOTH Qobuz and Tidal. I wanted to try and decide which service I wanted to use.
Now:
I have decided to keep both Tidal and Qobuz for the best coverage of tracks. But this has left me with duplicate playlists. I have a “My Favorite Songs” from Qobuz and “My Favorite Songs” from Tidal. The two playlists are largely the same but there are songs unique to each playlist. Each playlist has about 1100 songs. My goal is to merge them into a single playlist and end up with no duplicates.
I created a new playlist called “My Favorite Songs Merged” and from each of the source playlists I performed the “Add to playlist” action and chose the “Merged” playlist as the target. I ended up with a playlist of about 2200 songs. I then used the “Improve” feature to remove the duplicates it discovered. But the playlist still has about 1500 songs instead of the ~1100 it should have.
Looking through the tracks I can see why some aren’t being detected as duplicates. It seems the matching on FreeYourMusic matched the same source song on Amazon to slightly different variants on Qobuz and Tidal. For example, Daft’s Punk’s “Around the World” track got mapped to Homework on Tidal at a length of 7:10 and Homework (25th Anniversary Additon) on Qobuz at 7:09. Got it. Makes sense.
But other tracks looks exactly the same and aren’t being detected as duplicates. Here is an example:
What can I do about this other than manually removing them? I tried to look for settings that control the deduplication logic but didn’t find any. I am technical. I looked at the API and don’t see any way to manage the library. I couldn’t find any details about the DB, so I assume it is proprietary and closed.
Any super user tips for me?
Thanks!!
