Before I take my Nucleus One apart, I want to order some RAM. What type of RAM does it take?
This is the one I am having. There are other brands, such as Corsair, Crucial, etc
DDR4-3200 SODIMM (RAM for Notebook)
You can choose 8GB / 16GB / 32GB
Also, for the One you should check to see if you need to use single sided RAM not double sided.
I upgraded to 32gb of ram and now my Nucleus One doesn’t seem to be working. The lights are on (power light, Ethernet lights), but isn’t accessible through the Roon App and isn’t connected when I look at connected devices on my router (it is hardwired). Is there anything else I need to do or did I buy the wrong memory?
Here is the memory I bought…
Replace it with the original 4GB to see if the device starts up normally.
Then try installing the 32GB RAM again if it gets pass.
If not, there might be a chance that the RAM is incompatible or defective, even though the FURY model is supposed to be a higher quality version.
BTW, beware not to touch the pins on the RAM module. In addition, wear an anti-static ring if you have one.
Yes the 4gb starts up normally so it seems to be an issue with this 32gb stick. I thought i bought the same RAM type…
Sometimes RAM is just faulty
Also, has anyone confirmed that the Nucleus One can accommodate a 32GByte module?
Many of the the Celeron N series processors have a 16GByte maximum.
I’ve not yet seen a definitive answer as to what processor is fitted in the Nucleus One so I don’t know whether or not this applies.
32 seem to work in principle (though it’s probably a waste as the One will be too slow when one’s library size needs more than 16)
Have you hooked up a monitor and keyboard to see what messages (if any) are on the screen?
You may need to look in the BIOS to see if the memory is being recognized and what the memory settings are and adjust them? (hit DEL or F12 during boot)
I wasn’t ever able to get that 32gb card to work in the Nucleus One. I took @bearFNF’s suggestion and plugged in a monitor and it was flashing green or red with lines going all across the screen. Tried multiple power down/power ups as well.
I ended up picking up a 16gb card (link below) and that worked flawlessly. So not sure if it can’t handle 32gb cards or there was some issue with the card I bought.
Anyways, problem solved with this 16gb card I now have installed. Thanks all!
I’m woundering which one would sounds better. Different brands, single or double sided…
Well it turned out that, for @Ryan_Hart , 16GByte definitely sounds better than 32Gbyte
I’ve rarely laughed so much! Maybe I’ll get it blessed at church this Easter
I guess the 32 gb module came with a free mute button
