Restoring Roon Backup from Laptop to Roon Nucleus

Is it OK to restore a Roon backup from my laptop to my Nucleus?

Some of you know I like to “Show hidden tracks and albums” to see both the Tidal and Qobuz versions side-by-side in my Roon library when sorted by Artist. I have spent the last week editing the “date added” for half my albums to get them to line up when sorting by “date added” (anal, I know).

I would like to apply these edits to my Nucleus, but not if restoring from laptop to Nucleus is going to cause a problem. Both are on the same Roon version and account, but different subscriptions. Setting up my audio outputs is not a problem.

Jim, coming from a single-license user, I would say yes, there should not be any issues. However I remember reading that backups may be tied to the subscription license that made the backup. It may be worthwhile to post this in the Support category.

One quick option to test may be to make a backup of the Nucleus, try restoring a backup of the laptop on the Nucleus and see what happens, and if that causes issues, then restore from the most recent Nucleus backup.

Thanks Robert. I will definitely do that. My Nucleus backs up itself every night.

Not being quite sure about restoring from a laptop to Nucleus, I manually edited my Nucleus “date added” for Qobuz albums to agree with Tidal albums. Talk about “anal.”
