Retain "File" Album Artist Order

Roon automatically overwrites the album artist order in your files so that they are alphabetical, regardless of how you originally tagged them. So for example I have just imported this album and it ends up looking like this:

However, I am not necessarily familiar with the artists so in my files I always tag the album artists using this convention:

soloist; ensemble; conductor

This means that not only can I tell who is doing what at a glance on an album page without going to the credits tag but that all the pages have a uniform look and feel. Instead the current default is a rather disorienting experience of soloists, ensembles and conductors being jumbled up randomly and differently on every page just because of their alphabetical order. Using my simple convention this means, that this page (and every other page) in my library looks like this:

However, in order to achieve this on almost every import I most go to the album editor and manually change the album artist order from alphabetical back to what I had it in the first place.

The feature request is just for an additional flag to select “roon album artist order” or “file album artist order”. My first preference would be for a global flag at the library level but it could also be made available at an album editor level.

+1, not that my opinion matters. There are perhaps about a dozen UI “rough edges” which, if implemented, would give Roon a polished look and feel.

My sense is they’re in the “build out” phase, to borrow from construction, and you’re talking about punch list items.
