I was fortunate enough to see The Band live and in their prime back in the summer of 1971 at the Schaefer Music Festival, Central Park, NYC - Schaefer Music Festival

I was still a teenager but I loved The Band and Central Park was subway ride away from my home in Brooklyn, a rather long subway ride. The details are a bit foggy but I do remember really enjoying the concert,. I saw lots of concerts in Central Park through the years. Other NYC parks as well.

So sad, time to play one of my all time favorite tracks … and listen to his genius one more time…

Catch the blue train
Places never been before
Look for me
Somewhere down the crazy river
(Somewhere down the crazy river)
Ooh, catch the blue train
All the way to Kokomo
You can find me
Somewhere down the crazy river
(Somewhere down the crazy river)

Rest in peace Robbie.

Roon Radio served up ā€œTears of Rageā€ just as I was reading the news. I’m at a loss for words, I’ve spent so many hours with The Band’s music. Godspeed, Robbie, and thank you for all the wonderful music.
