ROCK vs Windows 10 as Roon Server

Would an Roon Nucleus clone - Intel NUC core i5 run and sound better than running on Windows 10 PC as the Core?

There’s probably 100 threads asking this question. Do a search and you’ll find numerous debates.

Second what Jim_F said. But to shortcut your search, there have been no definitive studies. All the evidence is anecdotal. So the only way to develop an opinion is to try it yourself and see.

Let me shortcut your search also. A computer cannot possibly make any difference in sound quality.

Roon does not claim any sq difference with roonos vs other os. Just convenience and maintenance benefits.

This will head down a Rabbit Hole . :smiling_imp:

If you are considering a NUC/ROCK solution then I would certainly advise it. I am now 9 months from a Win 10 - NUC transition . I went NUC 10i7 with 32 Gb RAM, 256 SSD and an internal 4TB SSD and an external 5Tb USB

It’s Virtually Silent (the fan sounds but ONLY when it’s really working DSP, Imports , Analysis etc)

It’s Tiny it just hides behind stuff

It’s an appliance , other than turning on and off I haven’t looked at it 9 months.

Sound Quality will always have a massive debate (with no definitive answer). Assume it’s the same as Windows 10 but without a “tractor sounding” desktop to run it

I would do it all over again simply for the convenience factor.
