Roon 1.8 on Mac

I am in main menu Albums
I select Settings
I am in Settings / General
I select Displays
I am in Settings / Displays
I type command+<
I am in Settings / General
I type command+<
I am still in Settings / General (this should have been the previous Albums view)

only the top left screen button < will bring me back to the previous Albums view.

Hmmm, more testing shows it is even weirder.

The top left screen button < will always let you leave the Setting screen immediately.

The command+< will bring you to the Settings / General but no out of Settings.

Problem solved. User error.
I used the wrong key combination “command + <” in stead of “command + arrow left”.
