That must be awkward lol "And how much do you pay for this? And you still have to pay for Tidal? And you have to use both at the same time?..
Yes being a lifetime Roon member and Tidal Premium I really thought this would be finally become available in 1.8
This for a reason is integrated into Spotify, Tidal etc. and part of the basic discovery requirement for users (âoh this is a nice artist, show me the most successful/known songsâ).
I am finding the âpicksâ check mark is a good work around right now. From what Iâm seeing they are the highlights from allmusic, not exactly top tracks. But for whatever reason roon only shows the picks sort option on albums not recordings in the discography tab?! So you still canât sort all recordings by âpicksâ youâd have to go into the album and then you can show only the picks.
But I do really like the picks check mark. I originally thought it was roon picking what I would like and was super impressed with it. But now I know itâs just from Allmusic and roon, not as impressive.
I really thought so too, like how was this overlooked again?
Right now I canât even add an album to my library so i can a song, popped up that it added to library but itâs just spinning and not

The more I think about your responseâŚ
The more disgusted I get. @mike are you deliberately disrespecting your paying customers? Your question comes across as both patronizing and condescending.
What say you?
Hey Roon team I was a bit harsh before the popular tracks for some artists isnât far off and even showed me a new song I havenât heard!
Thanks for all your hard work guy! Letâs get some options for top tracks/popular.
Picks are helpful. They only seem to apply to tracks in your library though - so if I check out a new artist, thereâs no way for me to filter the Pick tracks besides adding all their albums. Which defeats the purpose of Focus being available everywhere, but whatever
Additionally, Pick seems to no longer be an available filter for albums in our libraries anymore.
Roon uses itâs own Popular Tracks derived from Roonâs user base listening. During 1.7, Roonâs own Popular Tracks for Artists was broken for some users and Dylan indicated that the overhaul would include a fix for that issue. It did. If you are not seeing Popular Tracks for an artist please post a support thread with screen pics.
Otherwise, what you are asking about has always been a Feature Request and still is.
Hey! Itâs me â everyoneâs favorite condescending, patronizing, disrespectful liar!
I think last week when people werenât seeing our Popular Tracks feature at the top of the artist page it was due to some server issues. As far as I know, this problem has been resolved but as @Rugby said if youâre not seeing that on a given artist you can get in touch with the support team and theyâll look into it for you.
To be clear, weâve had many questions about the âTop Tracksâ feature in Roon 1.7 not showing up for all artists. The new and updated version of this feature should consistently show up for any artist we have a reasonable amount of data for.
Weâve heard some feedback about the lists, and I generally agree â in some cases our lists are solid but there are definitely artists we need to improve on, and I can tell you the team has already been working on a first round of changes.
And if theyâre still not great, weâll do another round or three until they are â feedback and examples of what youâre expecting to see help a lot. But we donât have any plans to replace our recommendations with TIDALâs or anyone elseâs.
For example â if you look at their Miles Davis list youâd think Kind Of Blue was the only album he ever released, but we know Roon users are much more discerning than that. The recommendations will improve, but feedback and specific examples accelerate that process, so please keep them coming.
Well at the end itâs just about the results! There is no need to integrate those popular songs listed by Tidal, Spotify erc - but the experience so far unfortunately is that on most artists I am missing out essential songs. And that is the sad thing that definitely shouldnât happen.
Like I said above, weâre already working on some updates to these recommendations and I think the next round should be a lot better, but examples are super helpful here so if there are artists with essential songs youâve noticed weâre missing, please let us know.
Thanks!
Thank you Mike!
Will also provide a few examples as suggested by you.
Any idea when the mentioned update will be available?
@mike, it seems there are Roonâs recommendations which are being improved at present, then thereâs Tidal Top Tracks which Iâve read from this thread to have nothing to do with an artist per se, but is simply a list of the most popular tracks on Tidal at the point in time itâs accessed.
People are asking for that as a list, perhaps under Tidal, just as it would appear in the Tidal app itself. Two completely different things. I think youâve answered the first being not using 3rd party selections to make recommendations. Does that imply the tidal top tracks listing will also never see the light of day in Roon? I think a definitive answer will help people know where they stand re that point.
Iâm confident weâll be able to nail these lists.
I wouldnât say never, but itâs not something weâre planning right now and if we do add additional recommendations or features from TIDAL or Qobuz those are likely to live on the respective serviceâs page in Roon, not mixed in with other recommendations powered by Valence.
Weâve been working on this and hope to have the next iteration live soon.
The change will happen on our servers, so it wonât go out with a Roon release. Iâll follow up here when itâs live.
Great to hear!! We are all looking forward to it
For example âThe Beatsteaksâ is missing âI donât care as long as you singâ
Seems there is still a lot of work / fixing to do.
Very famous âyou oughta knowâ by Alanis Morissette not listed in popular songs.
I am a new Roon user, liking everything that I see so far except the âPopularâ feature.
It doesnât seem to work as good as Tidal but itâs been almost 2 years since the last post here so I wonder how much the built-in âPopularâ tracks feature has improved?
