Happy new year! We hope the holidays have treated you well.
We are excited to start off 2023 with a new earlyaccess build containing significant updates for Carplay and Android Auto.
Firstly, this release contains our public release candidate for Carplay support. It contains fixes for a few major bugs around spontaneous log outs and album artwork load failures which were causing some headaches. After much investigation we believe we’ve tracked them down and resolved them. If you were testing Carplay, please verify general stability and confirm that these issues are no longer present.
Secondarily, this release also contains official support for Android Auto. We’ve made a number of strides since the last release, including fixing issues with content not loading and support for voice control. This was an official requirement of Google’s, and as we wanted to get you Android Auto as fast as possible, we’ve implemented basic controls to allow you to control ARC through Android Auto’s voice interface. In addition to basic transport controls like “next track” “play” and “pause” you can play tracks, albums, and artists as well. Simply say, “hey Google, play Last Night by The Strokes on Roon ARC.” Voice control is a whole can of worms in and of itself, and we are providing in a fairly lean and mean implementation in order to get you all Android Auto. That said, please let us know your thoughts and feedback on voice controls and Android Auto in general.
Thank you for your continued support,
The Team at Roon Labs
