Hummm … let Roon Server be exposed to internet is a serious concern for me … Need to set up DMZ and some complex LAN configuration to let DMZ accessible from the LAN. Not always possible depending of your router/modem.
For me it’s a security concern, and can be complex to handle for a Roon support team point of view.

No internet exposure for me, too much risk to be attacked (just verify the numeber of your ports are scanned on your ISP public ip, and you will be shocked  )

Not really necessary, just a well implemented firewall and the minimum number of open (custom) ports and you will be fine.

How many people will be able to do that ?

Firewall is not enough because even with just the roon port open, you still have access to your LAN …

You need DMZ and multiple firewall to handle real security of your network

You don’t need a DMZ. But if you did how many people would be able to do that?

Hummm … Say that to Amazon or big web company : You are safe, you have a firewall
Or QNAP with all the ransomware issue.

I’m just saying that securing a personal network is not just a firewall rule but can be more complex for people with not all the networl knowledge.

(del. not getting into this)

No one will force you to use it don’t worry.

It might just be that a Roon Core sets up a encrypted tunnel to a Roon «to go» server and an endpoint/remote can setup a return channel to its Core.
But what do i know, Roon 2.0 features are not know to mere mortals (yet) as i am.

Aaand here‘s the next one

Did someone already comment on the BTS hashtag being used on these posts? I’m commenting on that. It’s weird. That tag has a specific meaning in music and its, hmmmmm… Well… you guess as good as mine.

A K-Pop group? :man_shrugging:

I agree. That would make me so sad about the developer effort invested that could otherwise have been spent on other stuff. Given how many people on this thread have expressed that view I suspect that ours is not a minority view and I really hope that Roon is in tune enough with its audience to realise that we are here for the music.

Jim_F do we get to pick the model?

No, it’s a 911. But I think you can pick the color. I’m going with black.
