Roon and Qobuz sucks lately, gotta drop roon or qobuz

Both have been working flawlessly for the last day or two in the States.

Came here to have a look because I just has the same happen to me - album stuck mid-track and the rest won’t play - thankfully there was a second version available and I switched over for the rest of the album, but not a very good solution

I think the forum needs to improve with a better know issue - i really like the top of the page banner (for the new release on April 20th) i think this could have been utilised / or a sticky thread - this would aid users is not spending a lot of time.

Ideally this would scroll / be present on the client “We are currently experiencing issues with x” would be so useful in the app.

just my thought of the day

You might want to post your thought in Feedback - the Roon Labs team read every post there. They do not monitor discussions here in Roon Software Discussion - it’s for community members to discuss Roon and exchange tips and tricks.

Same here, but with ARC while driving there’s no way to switch playback album (AFAIK). What drives me nuts is that switching to Qobuz app everything seems to work fine.

I looked at Tidal and discarded the proposition as I don’t like MQA

Tidal’s added FLAC and even considers it the preferred format now. I use it and Qobuz, since both libraries have different and significant holes in them due to my painfully broad tastes.

I haven’t been able to play a single song from Qobuz so far today, that’s pretty bad if you ask me.

Good point on having a substantial cable modem for systems with that element. I recently upgraded modem and the responsive aspect of Roon / Qobuz combo was substantial for the better. Different scenario from the Qobuz failure of playback

I haven’t read this entire thread, but I was wondering if the new version of Roon set to be released on April 20th, will help alleviate the problems so many of us are having with this platform.

I would very much like that to be true.

That will depend on which problems the respective users have, precisely. It should help with some, in particular if related to high memory usage. However, this is a first step and not yet the end of memory usage improvements (they are ongoing in Early Access), so it may not heal all. For unspecified issues, for which some people here and in other threads refused to open tickets, nobody can say for sure.

I loogred out of QUOBUZ and took 2 months trial with Tidal and I’m having the same problem with Tidal. I can play a local library album or playlist with no problem but as soon as Roon Radio kicks in I get drops whether with Quobuz or Tidal In fact I can confidently say the only time I dont get drop outs is when I’m playing my own library or Live Internet Radio Radio

Doesn’t sound like a Qobuz issue then

Your own library working sounds like your LAN is fine. Does this include working with local Hi-Res files?

I also wonder if all Internet Live Radio works, including FLAC stations (e.g. Radio Paradise), or just mp3/AAC stations, which have much lower Internet bandwidth requirements.

If local Hi-Res files and FLAC live radio work, but Qobuz/Tidal does not, try limiting Qobuz/Tidal in Roon > Settings > Services to CD Quality (44.1/16).

FLAC live radio is generally limited to 44.1/16 as well, and it’s possible that your Qobuz/Tidal problems only occur with the higher bandwidth demands of Hi-Res.

If Qobuz/Tidal works at 44.1/16 but not with Hi-Res, then something may be wonky with your Internet uplink or with additional hops to the Qobuz/Tidal servers.

I have used Roon and Qobuz, combined with my own library, hosted on a Synology NAS, for 5 years, without any problems until early this year. At that time I started to experience the freezing/skipping issue that a lot of us have experienced. Since the April update most of this has gone away, but I have noticed a few similar issues starting again, with newly selected albums.

My network is primarily connected via Ethernet, to a Naim ND5 XS2 streamer, and Roon is hosted on a Windows 11 PC. My internet connection is 1000Mbit up and down and rock solid, in the UK.

I still don’t see any other solution that combines a local and streaming library as well as Roon, and offers native Naim connection. And I still don’t see any effective competitors to Qobuz. Tidal doesn’t do it for me.

If I was forced to make a choice though I would keep Qobuz and ditch Roon based on current experience, and suffer 2 libraries. ATM I’m relaxed about minor glitches.

With Qobuz connect working well I use the app for streaming and Roon for my 20K local albums. Not ideal but not much in life is. :man_shrugging:

@Suedkiez , that’s old news. Qobuz’ last post after that was “The issue is now resolved”. There have been no further updates on the issue. Clearly numerous unique ID’s changed during the migration, and it’s now up to us to update all our broken records. If Qobuz had any competent database programmers, this would have been fixed long ago…

Well you are replying to my post from 6 weeks ago (April 9), of course it’s old news. It was not resolved at that time. Even the screenshot you posted now stems from one day after my post. However Qobuz still posted this 8 days after my post:

In fact, it is still not 100% fixed as this was posted just 4 days ago:

@Suedkiez , no, I am not. I don’t follow your (or anyone’s posts).

Not sure why you’re defending Qobuz for their efforts. They’ve had more than enough time to sort this out.

I know I’m annoying as hell, but I think the worst part about this issue is that it’s completely unclear (at least to me) if Roon is taking this problem seriously.

After all, Roon should be shaking in its boots, because if Qobuz isn’t going to work with Roon, then there’s only Tidal left, and Roon is very weak. Qobuz works perfectly well through its own app, so I don’t think it’s devastating for them to lose Roon.

I’ve said it before, and I know many disagree, but why on earth doesn’t Roon have a “current operational issues” where they can shortly and clearly give us a status on known operational issues? I don’t want the technical explanations, I just want to read “we recognize there is a serious issue and we are working to resolve it” Now we have to scroll through various threads in here and on Facebook to find something from a Roon support member or from Qobuz.

It seems as if Roon is deliberately trying to keep customers in the dark about what’s going on. And then hope that we just learn to live with the problem until, maybe, one day it goes away.
