Can I directly connect a Roon Nucleus to the preamp’s DAC via USB or SPDIF or do I need a streamer?

You can connect direct with usb but even roon recommends to go via a network streaming device

Try it And see. Personally, I don’t think you’ll see an improvement with a networked streamer but you may prove me wrong.

Thanks for the input. I’m going to give it a try and see if I am discerning enough to hear a degradation from my current Devialet streamer/DAC set up. I have a new Preamp with a DAC but not a streamer. Always happy to save money and space.

Just hooked it up via USB. It was working with my previous Devialet system but when I connected it to my Vinny Rossi L2 preamp, I get nothing. I know that a line input works so the prenup appears to be

Figured it out. Didn’t realize I had to Enable anything. It sounds lovely.
