Hi, I have the Roon App on a Samsung tablet. The set up is about 5 years old and is working fine. All the latest updates to both my PC Roon Server and the App are installed. I notice that the ROON app on my tablet takes up 3.05 GB of space and I use that tablet for a lot of other things. It is in the danger zone for space on the internal storage.Maybe the ROON App has built up a lot of redundant data over the years ? Should I clear the data and cache ?..Or just delete App and reinstall fresh…or do nothing ?..thanks for any advice
It will not hurt to clear the cache but not the data.
Or even removing the app and reinstall.
But I would just clear the cache first and see what difference that makes.
The Roon app can be quite the memory hog. On my old 32gb iPad, this combined with other things became an issue, so I periodically deleted the Roon app and reinstalled it, freeing up a bunch of memory. The downside to deleting/reinstalling the app is I had to re-enter my settings.
When it came time for a new iPad, I got one with much more memory so I wouldn’t have to worry about it.
As suggested, you might try clearing the cache first, and if that doesn’t free up enough memory, then delete/reinstall (and re-enter your settings).

Thank you. Sadly clearing the cache made no difference. Most of the 3GB is in data. Do you happen to know what is contained in that data ? Surely all the important stuff is in the core/ server on my PC…

Try clearing the image cache from within Roon (rather than Android settings)? Not sure if that would be covered by the Android cache clearance or not. Settings → Setup → Clear cache? That said, I had the same issue with Roon on Android and also found myself occasionally reinstalling.
You won’t need to uninstall and reinstall. Instead you can just “Clear storage”. This resets the app. You’ll then need to change the display options back to what you want, but the general settings for Roon are, indeed, all on RoonServer.

Check your downloaded music. It may be the reason. If you delete the downloaded songs then you may have more free space.
Downloaded music won’t change the storage size of a Roon app on a tablet.

You need to do this every few years. It was over 5GB on my iPad before it complained about running out of storage for Apple updates. Seems to be an issue that Roon haven’t got round to fixing despite its ubiquity. I don’t know if it happens with phones too. Has anyone else noticed an issue like this with phone installations?
