I am facing similar issues:
constant in testing mode in the Roon-settings and constant the message “poor connection” when I try to connect to the Roon Nucleus with my mobile.

  • ARC worked well in the beginning without any problems.
  • since a few weeks it is not working anymore.
  • my Roon Nucleus is hard-wired to the modem and visible on the modern with IP and MAC-adress
  • in the modem the UPnP is activated.
  • added an additional port forwarding with same Roon IP and port number, protocol TCP
  • hard resets of the modem and the Nucleus didn’t show any change in the malfunction.

As far as I see, ll checks as advised.

what can I, as being not a network specialist, do more?

Hi, same issue for me as of a SW update maybe 2 days ago. Everything was working fine, but now it just shows the Spinning Anus of Doom and “Testing”. Any SW people who can comment on what to do?

Running a ROCK with V1.0 build 256 and server V2.0 build 1223.

from another post about this topic I got the hint to check the open-port forwarding on the modem using the link to yougetsignal.com.
The weird thing is that using this check, the message is that the port is closed - whilst on the modem the port-forwarding is indicated as open. Very confusing and no clue what to do next.
Again a hard reset of the Nucleus, modem and also deleting and reinstalling the apps for Roon remote and RoonArc are not giving a positive result.
On Roon remote the Nucleus is immediate recognized and connected whilst on RoonArc the non-stop spinning keeps ongoing.

And Just like that, after letting the Testing run like forever… this a.m. happy to announce that it is in a “Ready” state
Dont know if the UPnP resolved it, or the static IP or ther reboot 2x times, or the hard reboot on the network… but for now I will be a happy camper…

Well, you may notice recurrence of this issue off and on. I now keep two ports in the allocated range and simply toggle between them to recover from ‘testing’ situation!

Hello @Mark_Johnson2 and all,

Thank you for your patience in dealing with this issue over the weekend.

The Roon team has identified an ongoing intermittent server stability issue affecting Roon ARC. This most commonly manifests as the hanging you’re encountering during the port forwarding test that automatically configures in Roon → Settings → Roon ARC.

Unfortunately, the only workaround for affected users is to reinstall ARC or reboot your Core machine, prompting a reauthentication that might avoid the affected backend server.

However, the good news is that the team has a permanent solution prepared and this issue should resolve itself completely within the very near future. Please keep us posted if you encounter new symptoms or if the provided workarounds fail to help.

Please note that if diagnostics display in Roon → Settings → Roon ARC and the port test fails rather than hanging, then this is likely a real port forwarding issue in your local network worth troubleshooting in a dedicated thread.

Hi Connor,

Great, thanks for that update - like the others, my system and Roon ARC were working perfecting and now it’s just hanging on “testing”. I’ve reinstalled the ARC app on my phone and rebooted the Core, and they’re both hanging (on testing in the main Roon software and in connecting to the Core on my app). Glad it’s been spotted, fingers crossed all working soon!

 thanks for the efforts to solve the issue!

Thanks very much, Connor. Given that there are multiple threads describing the same issue with frustrations rising, when the team does deploy the permanent solution, would it be possible to announce the fix and necessary steps in a prominent central forum rather than have the users constantly checking if the backend issue has been rectified? A timeline would also be helpful.

sad news: Roon-ARC again spinning and not working again.
All worked well this morning and now again…same issue!

Same problem here. Did a restart but nothing. Has been spinning for the past 10 hours. Nothing wrong with port forwarding and I have already done a reinstall of my Arc yesterday. It worked for few hours and had to download my music again which takes ages. Now I have to do it all over again?

Having the same issues here.
Testing keeps spinning in the Core application, inside the Roon ARC app it says that the core is offline.
I’ve tried rebooting the core (and the PC it’s running on) several times, and have tried clearing data + cache in the ARC app.
When I sign into the app, my core is displayed but when trying to connect, it spins forever.

Hopefully there is a fix soon… But good to hear it is a known issue that’s being worked on.

I’m having the same issue as described above. Roon ARC working fine until recently, now “Testing” is spinning. Port forwarding already set up and was working previously.

So all was well for a bit, I wen to use ARC again and nothing went to core an saw the testing spinning.
then was I will let it go…
A day later for some reason the core crashed and it did a hard reboot, and then it worked again.
did another reboot of the whole machine and so far it connected again we will see.

Looking forward to the permanate fix

I’m having the same issues as described in this thread. Just got port forwarding working, enjoyed Roon ARC for the afternoon. Then it stopped working. Roon ARC says it can’t connect and to check the Roon server. When I get home, the server is running just fine. Checked settings - Roon Arc - just spinning. Rebooted the server (Mac Mini) - now not spinning. But Roon Arc still won’t connect on iPhone. Tried rebooting phone. No help.

I went out of town and my core had shut down due to a power issue. It is working now and Roon itself works; I’m getting a constant “testing” whirligig…

Edit: a reboot of my ROCK did it!

Same issue here - ARC worked perfectly on first install but is now useless. I’ve tried reinstalling ARC and rebooting the core, but just get the Testing spin. Looking forward to the fix…

Me too. Restart or reboot makes no difference with me. ARC worked fine when released, but not now.
