I am running Roon Arc on a Samsung S21 Ultra. When conected to Android Auto it works fine so, happy days, tunes in the car. However, if I try and use it out and about it crashes (app closes) as soon as I try to play a track. By random trial and error, I have discovered that, if I turn off Bluetooth in the Samsung settings it works OK. Not ideal when you want to use headphones! Is this a known issue?
Exactly the same issue here with a Galaxy S22+. Since my only interest in ARC is to play to Bluetooth headphones over a Wi-Fi connection when I am at the gym, ARC is dead to me, unfortunately. I don’t know whether it’s a Roon, an Android, a Samsung, or an Interaction problem, but I gave up on trying to fix this.
FWIW, Plex and Spotify keep me entertained just fine when I am wearing Bluetooth headphones.
I do not know what may be causing your problems, but I am listening to Arc on an S22+ over bluetooth headphones as I type this.
Thanks for your reply. It was helpful to know that.
After reading your reply last evening, I did some more troubleshooting this morning and have narrowed the issue to this: when my Widex hearing aids have a Bluetooth connection active, ARC crashes immediately. I can’t use it at all. When the hearing aids are not connected, I can use Bluetooth headphones with ARC just as you can. Still not sure whose code is causing this, but it is 100% repeatable depending on whether there is a hearing aid Bluetooth connection active when the ARC app is asked to play.
Both Plex and Spotify can play to headphones - and, for that matter, the hearing aids themselves - when the hearing aids share a Bluetooth connection. I don’t think there is an inherent technology impediment to ARC also being able to do so.
This is good to learn. I don’t wear the hearing aids when using headphones, which I prefer when working out because they play more loudly and with better fidelity than do the hearing aids. I just need to remember to disconnect the hearing aids from the phone when I transition from hearing aids to headphones.
That’s it! That is my issue too. If I disable the Bluetooth to my hearing aid then Arc works.
Unfortunately this is not ideal because I cannot discreetly listen to Arc through my hearing aids!
