Thank you for your response. I really don’t know where to look for the issue. I can’t imagine that I’m the only Roon user who’s experiencing this problem. I assume, that most people don’t use the “roon Radio” feature, while on ARC, otherwise I have no explanation.
I was again trying to adjust some Fritz.Box setting. I opened manually TCP and UDP ports 55000, 55001 and 55002 and assigned them to the Roon Core. No change to my problem. Also, I tried different routers. No difference. Also, “exposed host” doesn’t help, so it’s not a router/firewall/port issue. It must be somehow a bug in the roon Core or Roon ARC.
What I observed: when I reset or deinstall the ARC and reinstall it, I can use the roon Radio function multiple times - but ONLY via “recent activity” window and only using a full album as a “Roon Radio”-source. The moment I go “inside” an album and pick a random track, the bug shows up. After that there is absolutely no chance to get Roon Radio running again.
Also, one strange thing happens: Sometimes, when I “kill” the app because of the “Roon Radio starting…”-Bug, and I reopen the app, my last picked songs starts playing. But this only happens very rarely.
I really hope we find the solution to this problem.
Any ideas?
I just tried it and Roon Radio on ARC worked just fine for me. I went to a Qobuz album, not in my library, chose a track, clicked 3 dot menu, chose Roon Radio and it started and I left it playing through 3 choices.
If you dedicate 4 GB to RAM playback, are you then running RoonServer with only 4 GB available?
as far as I know the 4 GB for playback is when you don’t use the Zenith as Roon Core. When you change the InnuOS to roon Core, all InnuOS functions (playback, etc.) are turned off (you can’t access it anymore via the native app) and you have access to full RAM memory. I’m not sure if this is true, but this would make sense for me.
When it comes to the CPU, there were never problems either.
The indexing speed, DSP, etc. of Roon is fantastic with the InnuOS Zenith, never had troubles with it. Also, browsing, adding titles, editing, using multiple DSP settings at one time work like a charm.
I have an update for you guys. I wonder if this case will really be handled and solved one day.
We were speaking recently about a potential issue - the InnuOS Zenith as a non supported Roon Core. I was thinking the bug/problem could be a processor or RAM problem, as I also noticed that since the last update Roon was working slower than before.
So I bought a NUC, to check against the InnuOS Zenith. I checked the list of supported NUCs on the Roon ROCK helppage and bought a NUC11TNHi7. Also, 250GB of M2 SSD, 16GB RAM, and 4TB Samsung QVO SSD for music. I installed everything, flashed it with the ROC and replaced the InnuOS as Roon core.
Did it change anything? No. Still, exactly the same problems with ARC: Roon Radio doesn’t work properly.
Additionally: All the issues from my other posting according Queue, etc. also still occur. Banned songs are also still played.
I now have a Zenith and a NUC. Both don’t work properly with Roon Radio on ARC.
Thanks for the detailed follow-up, and my apologies if there’s been any lack in communication! I don’t have any updates to share from my prior post:
Our Arc team still has a ticket for this issue, which is still in the development queue. When there is more information to share on the subject, you’ll be the first to know!
