Roon B1515 and ARC B346 Feedback

Some considerations:

  • The connection between ARC and Android Auto seems to have improved. Previously every two or three times I had to resort to force stopping and restarting ARC to make Android Auto display it correctly (Either ARC would not load at all, or the screen of the song that was playing when the previous disconnection was displayed even though it was no longer that one, or the music was played through the car speakers and the ARC screen in AA was blank). Now ARC loads correctly every time AA is started, correctly resuming the music.
The only oddity I noticed is that sometimes the music resumes at a lower volume than the previous connection, but if I open the app on the smartphone the volume adjusts. It almost seems like sometimes it does not read the MUSE settings, but I’m not sure about this.
There are other Android Auto oddities, such as the historic problem that sometimes the song’s time freezes to zero (unless you pause and resume the song) or the random cover of another album displayed (also fixable with pause/resume)

  • I no longer see the ā€œARC not responding, close appā€ popup when ARC is open in the background, so it seems that the fix is working

  • As for the high battery usage, I can’t give feedback as I had not encountered any problems previously and I have not noticed any differences with this build

  • I can’t give feedback on the other fixes either as I had not encountered any previously

  • No new issues encountered

Ok, I can confirm that if I start Android Auto with ARC in the background, the audio is different. As if he didn’t take Muse’s settings. If I take my smartphone and bring ARC back to the foreground, I clearly hear that the audio changes and takes the correct settings

Hi, @Daniele_Piancastelli, thank you for your feedback. We will try to reproduce it locally:

Thanks!

Whatever changes made involving Arc performance and Tailscale (discussed in someone support post) worked!! Def the best experience I have had so far using Arc on my iPhone in the car using Apple CarPlay and at work hooked up to a dragonfly red dac and audioengine speakers…I can even stream at CD quality in the car without dropouts and can upsample to max PCM on the dragonfly at work. So great work and prob needs a bit wider announcement for those using Arc with Tailscale.
Thanks
Doug

Hi, @Daniele_Piancastelli, an update here. We were able to identify the issue with Android Auto and MUSE presets. There will a fix for this issue in the upcoming EA release. When it’s live, could you please let us know if the issue is fixed for you?

Thanks!

@ivan The latest build fixed the problem with Muse, but introduced another problem (actually old but that with the previous build seemed fixed). When you reconnect to AA, playback Proceeds but no sound comes out of the car’s speakers. The usual forced interruption and reboot procedure of ARC brings everything back to normal.

I did various tests where I connected and disconnected from AA. If it can be useful, you can consult Arc logs between 19.20 and 19.40 CET. especially the song ā€œCaptiveā€ by the artist ā€œSecret Sphereā€

Got it, thank you for the feedback, @Daniele_Piancastelli, I will pass this info to the team.

Thanks!

Hey @Daniele_Piancastelli! Do you recall if the playback was successful for the previous two tracks before reaching ā€˜Captive’? And do you connect wirelessly to AA?

@oleh I honestly don’t remember.
I did the ā€œCaptiveā€ track tests when I got home last night. I was at the gym working out beforehand and used ARC via bluetooth headphones and I don’t remember when I left the gym and got into the car and started AA if it had problems (about 10 minutes before I got home).

Yes, I connect wirelessly to AA via the ā€œAA wirelessā€ adapter.
