I have an Oppo Sonica DAC connected to a Sonore ultraRendu. When I go into Device setup, I get the following screen:
When I click on Identify this device and select the Oppo logo from the list of manufacturers, I’m presented with two choices, both of which are Oppo disk players. Is there any way to identify the Sonica DAC even though it is discontinued?
Basically, no.
The “identified devices” are reserved for the ones which have passed Roon Tested (or Roon Ready) certification. Then they will be added to the Roon device database, where their optimal settings will be retrieveable and they will get some graphical line art representing them.
But no need to fret, devices will sound exactly the same with a generic icon and carefully selected settings!
