Roon Bridge vs Roon Ready

I’m considering to purchase the Gustard A26-dac which is a Roon Bridge. Is there any functionality that would missing versus a Roon Ready device ? Can I still use DSP ? I know there won’t be any volume control via Roon, that’s fine, the DAC will be fixed volume into a preamp anyways (Gustard H26).

There is documentation available that may answer your questions:

Potentially with the last two points listed under “Technology” in the second article linked above.

I don’t see why not? One has absolutely nothing to do with the other. See also:

Not sure if this applies?

Thanks for the replies.

@danny If there are no official licenses of Roon Bridge : The official Chinese product page clearly mentions Roon and Roon Bridge (Roon BiRdge even !)

A shame because this product measures extremely well and looks nice, which is why I was considering it.

I was under the impression Roon Bridge can be installed on a product but it cannot ship with it pre installed by a vendor. I believe if a device offers the user to download and install it all from Roons servers then this is ok, but it cannot be freely distributed or preinstalled on the hardware. Ifi zen stream used Bridge until it got full certification but you had to select it on setup for it to be installed. I may be wrong but I am sure other devices use bridge and allow this method. Happy to be corrected if I am wrong. Which going by the new Innuos streamers no longer advertise Roon as being supported is more than probable.

RoPieee would be another example. Bridge gets installed after flashing the card and first run.

Interesting on the “Do not buy these products”…

The Denafrips Arce streamer supports Roon Bridge, and has Roon Ready pending.

(I picked up one used and it works great. But it’s certainly concerning from @danny to hear the “stealing our intellectual property” comment.)

Hmmm…
