I just wanted to give a quick description of my ROON-Core setup, as I am quite happy with it and it is (hardware-wise) a fairly budget friendly option to run a reliable ROON-Core setup. I hope this might be of interest to others.
I run the ROON-Core on Debian 11 on an ODROID H3 from Hardkernel equipped with 16GB of RAM. What makes the ODROID H3 particularly suitable for a ROON-Core setup --besides its very modest price – is that it is passively cooled and in addition has a digital optical output (via Toslink). I use the Toslink output to connect to an SMSL C200 Headphone amp & DAC with great results.
Overall, I highly recommend this setup.
