Roon Displays and Live Lyrics

Hi there

Have I misunderstood roon display, does it only work at the source the music is coming from? i.e. if music is playing out of my hifi the display thing wont work on my macbook where I am controlling it?

Also these live lyrics thing, this does not work for me when I hit the lyrics button all I get is a full page of all the lyrics, no scrolling or anything, I don’t even see a way to get to the demonstrated picture with the album in the back drop?

Hi Gareth,
You might want to look here. I run Roon on a NUC and run web display on a Mac Mini with a big flat screen.

Hope this helps.
Gerard

Hum, I must have misunderstood it talks about chromcast.

All I wanted was when something is playing to have a nice display of it on my tv screen?

Essentially I will be setting up a small pc, essentially a nuc to output audio to my hifi via usb and I was hoping a nice display via hdmi to my tv.

That’s exactly what a £30 rrp Chromecast allows you to achieve.
Think of it as a quality HDMI cable…

It can operate a chromecast compatible display from a different zone, however, the lyrcs icon must show available live lyrics for that function to work.

I’m probably misunderstanding here. So I have a PC I am currently installing windows on, this will have Roon installed on it and hooked up to my hifi. I have a server in my nas.
I want to hook this pc up to my tv. Are we saying the only way for me to see whats currently playing on my tv is to also have a chrome cast in the mix? This seems unnecessary as roon is already running on the PC?

Is there not like a plugin or something?

Cheers

So if you’re hooking up your PC to your TV, presumably you are displaying the PC desktop on the TV?

So then you can either display the Roon UI on your TV, or fire up your web browser in full screen mode (with your PC’s IP address, e.g. 192.168.x.xxx:9100/display/), and use that as your web display on the TV…

Thanks that worked. Would be great for the future if there was like a kiosk mode so it just does it without all the steps, but working well now
