Roon should develop the ability to “listen” upon demand when the subscriber is playing a vinyl record and then display the same type of content that would be played if it was a digital version of the same song//album
Personally I tend to play the vinyl and then play it in Roon to a silent zone so it gets scrobbled to last.fm
Why would you want to do that? Just curious.
I find the Roon written material adds to the listening experience. For times when I’m listening to my vinyl records, it would be great to have similar relevant bio type info that relates to that vinyl record artist to read while listening. With Shazam type tech, it seems like that could be built in to Roon to automatically “listen” to what I’m playing and pull up relevant material (as long as the listener chooses to have Roon listen momentarily) Of course I could manually search Roon for a digital copy of the same artists but that would require more work from my own digits to find it.
I use Discogs, put all your albums in Discogs then you can scobble them to LastFM,
But i would like a similar concept in Roon, where it would be classified as Vinyl, could also scobble to LastFM, but could also recommend followon albums to play that are similar, and possibly also recommend albums you don’t have, where you could listen to them from Qobuz or Tidal.
In other words bring music descovery to your vinyl library
Right! I have all my albums on a spreadsheet but I haven’t considered putting them on discogs yet. Not sure what the advantage is to me. But I like your concept.
Interesting. Yeh, that would be nice to have I suppose. I listen to Vinyl and Tidal/My own cd collection through Roon. I like your idea Az and it’s not something I had thought of before. Someone here mentioned Scobble to LastFM. I’m not sure what that is, but maybe it’s an alternative or workaround to give that feature. I’ll google it. cheers,.
How Does Scrobbling Work?
- Automatic Tracking: Many music apps and services have built-in Last.fm integration. When you listen to a song, the app sends the track information to Last.fm, which records it in your listening history. “Android scrobbling has been flawless.”
- Manual Input: For tracks played on physical media or other non-integrated sources, you can use external scrobbling apps to manually add them. “There are a lot of external scrobbling apps, but also apps and streaming sites with internal scrobbling options.”
I guess something I forget to add is I have Roon configured to scobble to LastFM, along with JRiver and use Discogs for vinyl, thus if Roon could add a vinyl component it would expand the integration of my Owned library, which is CDs, Digital Downloads and Vinyl, to allow the discovery of music with Tidal & Qobuz.
