My girlfriend wants to host a Karaoke party. Is there a way to do karaoke within Roon? How? I’d like to have the audio come through my main system rather than using a stand-alone karaoke machine. If I can’t do that within Roon, can I do it within one of the other devices connected to my system such as a bluesound node or Apple TV?
You’d need at least
- At least one microphone
- Some kind of mixer to mix the mic and the karaoke audio
- Karaoke tracks with lyrics (Karaoke tracks should be available in the streaming services connected to Roon, but I am not sure if they come with lyrics)
- A lyrics display with scrolling lyrics. These exist in Roon for selected songs, but proper Karaoke lyrics also have a dot jumping over the lyrics to make it easier to sing along.
I guess it could be made to work, somewhat, but Roon and its complexities are not ideal. I’d rather look into a dedicated Karaoke app like Smule.

Your post had me curious and in looking at Tidal as Suedkiez mentioned tracks were there but almost none had lyrics attached to them.
I am not familiar with Smule, but have used Karafun in the past when we have had some festivities. They have a pretty good assortment of songs, have an Apple TV app and can join for a month under $10.
