Customize Album Display
As you browse your library in Roon, you’ll notice that some albums have small badge icons. If you’re wondering what they mean, don’t worry - they’re customizable! Here are some badges you might see on your albums:
"Pick" badge: If you see a checkmark badge, that album is a “pick” from the editorial team at AllMusic.
In-library badge: This badge is found on albums listed on an artist’s Discography page. It indicates which albums are in your library, making it much easier to see what albums are not in your library.
Live badge: This badge is displayed on albums that are live recordings.
Compilation badge: This badge appears on albums that are compilations.
Bootleg badge: This badge is shown on albums that are unofficial recordings.
To customize your album display and see all of the available badges, go to Settings > General > Customize album display. From there, you can choose which badges and other information to display on your albums.
Why didn’t they include icons of the badges they are referring to so I know what they’re supposed to look like?
Edit: I went to the Settings and played about, I can see them now. Would have been nice to see them in the original mail though, just sayin’
This isn’t working. These badges don’t show up. Some do, some don’t. Its a broken feature. I do find Roon very inconsistent. ← Edit: Frustration. It’s not broken, now that I have the below knowledge, I understand. Perhaps the Roon Mastery series should include some more detail on how features work.
Yes, that’s intended. The „library“ badge is never shown in My Albums because everything in My Albums is by definition in the library, so every album would have one. It shows the Tidal and Qobuz badges because this is relevant information.
On the Discography tab it does show the library badge because not every album in Discography has to be in the library.
Which ones specifically? They do show for me but only if applicable. E.g., the Live badge is there if the album is marked as a live album, the Bootleg badge if if is marked as a bootleg, and so on.
Are you saying that you have albums that are, in the album properties, marked as live/pick/compilation/bootleg, but the badges don’t show? If so, did you enable the respective badges in Settings > General? (Note that the settings are per-app, so you have to configure them in each Roon app if you use more than one)
Actually, I see them now. I must have a lot of Albums where a badge isn’t appropriate. When I set the Focus to filter/show only albums that are not in Tidal, Roon Radio still plays stuff from Tidal. Do you happen to know a way to get Roon Radio to only play stuff in My Albums only (as-in not stuff from Tidal)?
