I do not have an MQA capable DAC. I use Roon to decode MQA. On all my MQA files MQA only decodes to 24/88. I have set it to Render and/or Decode etc. and all settings only do 24/88. I don’t get 24/96. Is this normal?
If they are MQA 44.1 files then yes that would be expected behavior.

You get 88.2/24 from 44.1/24 or 44.1/16 encapsulated files and 96/24 from 48/24. If you only have Tidal Hifi then you only get 44.1/16 as MQA. Roon will show what the encapsulated rate is as the first line in the signal path.
