Qobuz have introduced a separate “downloader” app that does things differently from the now deprecated download function that was in the main Qobuz app.
- If there is a digital booklet, the new downloader creates an additional folder called
goodies
and puts the PDF in there instead of in the main album folder. - It will now always create a subfolder named
1
in the main album folder holding music tracks. For box sets, it will create a series of subfolders:1, 2, 3... n
as required.
Unfortunately, for (1) Roon does not know what to do with the goodies
folder and does not pick up any PDFs from the folder.
Roon expects to find PDFs in the main album folder and they are picked up from there during the import process and added to the database.
In the new situation we have to manually move the PDFs out of the goodies
folder into the main album folder.
For (2) putting the music tracks, even for a single album into a subfolder in the album folder can apparently cause Roon to fail to identify the album correctly sometimes. For example, This John Wilson album:
And for boxsets, the subfolder naming convention (1,2,3...n
) is not what Roon expects (CD1, CD2, CD3...CDn
) causing complete failure, as in this 2 disc example:
The import process of Roon could be upgraded to take account of the Qobuz app structure (or Roon Labs could ask Qobuz to make their app compatible with what Roon expects…).
TL:DR - be prepared to do manual editing of file locations and folder names if you use the Qobuz Downloader app for adding downloads to Roon.
PS - I can’t vote for this feature suggestion myself, since I have no votes left…
Edit: that Vaughan Williams/Thomas Tallis album is odd - may be something wrong with the metadata. I’ll raise a separate post in the #support:metadata category…
