Why is the Roon Nucleus One not Available via the UK Roon Shop until April? Why is there bugger all in the UK?
Also the price in the USA works out at £370 why is it nearly £700 here in the UK? and that’s if it is available.
We are fleeced in this country with everything. Any thoughts anyone?
The price in the US is stated without VAT and added later, because different federal states have different VAT.
And you may have heard of a tariff war, so maybe the UK retaliated with import tariffs on electronics, I don’t know.
Same works the other way round. ATC EL50 active speakers in UK 49,500 pounds. US 99,999 dollars. current exchange rate is 1 - 1.32 UK/US exchange. There is a bit of gouging going on in both directions! But yes the UK is often referred to as treasure island by foreign manufactures. A much bigger markup than the 20% VAT being applied in a lot of cases……
Regarding availability, not just UK, EU availability april/may 2026 for Nucleus One.
How so? It’s USD 599.99 (without VAT) in Roon‘s US store as far as I can see, which is ~445 GBP as of today. (Which would work out as 534 GBP incl. 20% VAT)
The highest combined sales tax in the US (which is what VAT is called here) is about 11.25%.
I know, but that doesn’t change that nominal US prices don’t include VAT and UK prices do, and how high the VAT is in a given country isn’t Roon’s problem.
you should worry we have tariffs, luxury goods surcharge and VAT the old Nucleus was double the US price here in South Africa. I suspect NUC don’t count as luxury
I have yet to see the N1 or Titan for sale here
add to that our currency is weak against the $
